Short trip to Melbourne to travel behind some of VLines A Class locos, as well as some N and P Class engines.

The A Class were originally built in Australia in 1952 (as B Class) and are based on bulldog nosed American designs. After a rebuild to become A Class in 1984 and replacing the EMD 16-567BC engine with a new EMD 12-645E3B engine they are still running on commuter trains centred on Melbourne Southern Cross station. Managed rides behind 2 of the 4 that are allocated to passenger work (A60 and A62).

The N Class have the same engine but with a very different body shape whilst the P class have a small version of the same engine in a single cab design
